The new Lost in Space movie was released on April 3, 1998. In honor of this important occasion in the world of robots, we have been featuring, and will continue to feature, several Lost in Space - related robots during the coming year. This month we are proud to present the new Giant Robot. The form of this defender robot changes during the movie (a future Robot of the Month will show a different version). The photo at the left is of the new Trendmasters toy (Item #31108, © 1997 Trendmasters Inc., St. Louis and New Line Productions) made in conjunction with the movie's release. This battery-powered plastic toy is 10" high, and has a variety of features including: Firing Rocket Launcher, Power-Up Attack Action, Gripping Pincer Claws, and Rolling Robotic Base. The instruction sheet that comes with the robot and the picture on the back of the box detail some of these features. Pressing a button on the front on the robot produces flashing lights, and a number of sounds.
